The Xbox Store page for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is up, which reveals that a full reveal of the game will come in Summer 2024. It has almost been a decade since Dragon Age: Inquisition launched, expanding on the world of Thedas and setting up an overarching enemy beyond the Blight. For better or worse, it embraced an open world approach, and blended the action elements of its predecessor with the tactical combat of Dragon Age: Origins. However, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is expected to be a radical departure from both.

Gameplay leaks of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf point towards more action-oriented combat, where party members play a similar function to the squad mates from the Mass Effect games. While this decision has sparked major controversy among Dragon Age fans, the pivot in direction could pay off. Given that Baldur's Gate 3 embraced the isometric style of older roleplaying titles, a fantasy take on Mass Effect's crisp, engaging combat would play up to BioWare's modern strengths.

However, the continued silence and constant delays for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf have begun to grate on the community. Though many remain cautiously optimistic about the project, the failures of Anthem and shortcomings of Mass Effect: Andromeda have shaken their faith in BioWare. The Summer Game Fest 2024 will be held on June 9, and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has long been rumored to make an appearance during the event. With the Xbox Store page coming online suspiciously close to the Summer Game Fest, on top of it confirming a Summer 2024 reveal, all signs point towards the rumor being true. Furthermore, with the release window for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf narrowed down to Q1 2025, a deep dive at the Summer Game Fest makes the most sense from a marketing standpoint.


Though not much is known about the protagonist in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, the Xbox Store page describes them as being a leader who forges a courageous fellowship, implying that they may not be in charge of a large organization like the Inquisitor, but will instead forge connections with a smaller group like in Origins. Players will find out more about Dreadwolf very soon, which is expected to take place in the Tevinter Imperium and its neighboring countries.
